The 2001
Neighborhood & House Tour was a Huge Success!!!
The 2001 Benton Park
Neighborhood and House Tour, which was held Saturday and Sunday
October 6 & 7 was a total success! In spite of competition from
several large annual events, on this gorgeous Fall weekend, over 200
people walked our Neighborhood and enjoyed touring the 14 homes,
businesses and gardens featured on this years’ Tour. The patrons on
the Tour expressed a genuine interest, appreciation and even
surprise in our Historic Neighborhood, the diversity of the
beautiful homes and our residents. One of those visitors was Jim
Shrewsbury-Vice-President of the Board of Aldermen, who sent us a
letter thanking us for our part in the revitalization of the City of
St. Louis. We hope that the success of this event will start an
annual tradition, which will encourage growth in both the numbers of
patrons and participation of Benton Park residents.
Key elements in the
success of this event were several mentions in the Post -Dispatch;
including a timely article in the October 5th Real Estate section;
complete with pictures, the completion and promotion of our
now-functioning
www.bentonpark.com website, beautiful weather, generous sponsors
and the boundless energy, enthusiasm, imagination and
resourcefulness of the members of the House Tour Committee.
In addition to a
successful marketing effort the 2001 Neighborhood and House Tour has
enhanced the BPNA by:
1. Purchase of a new BPNA Banner with the website address for use at
future marketing events
2. A fully functioning and promoted website www.bentonpark.com
3. $3000 in revenue (which we hope can be credited to jump start the
2004 Tour.)
The 2001 Benton Park
Neighborhood and House Tour Committee would like to acknowledge and
thank our sponsors Maritz Inc, Anhueser-Busch Brewery, Wayne
Olson-New Town Development The Filling Station, Cherokee Antique
Row, Joel’s Food Mart, Marvin Windows, Mary King & Associates, ML
Johnson, Sound on Wheels, Once Upon a Vine, Nutrition Source, Linda
