City: The City of
Saint Louis, our 9th Ward Aldermen Ken Ortmann, and the Department
of Parks have moved forward with securing a contractor to completely
rebuild the lake in Benton Park. This rebuild will consist of:
- Cleaning the lake
- Level the bottom with gravel.
- Pouring new concert basin.
- Sealing
- Fill with water.
I have heard a number of
rumors running around. No, the lake will not be deeper to hold
fish all winter. No, they are not creating an entrance to a
cave. No, the lake will not have an island created in the
center.
The only changes for the
old lake to the new lakes will be that the new lake will be a little bit
more sallow.

Not only did Ken get the main lake repaired in 2007,
he also managed to find the funds to repair the small pond in the
same year!
